Southbound Alvernon Way/Contractor's Way Closure

On Friday, January 30, 2015, crews from the City of Tucson Department of Transportation Streets and Traffic Maintenance Division will be removing graffiti from an overhead directional sign on southbound Alvernon Way at Contractor’s Way. This work will require the closure of southbound Alvernon Way where it meets Contractor’s Way. The work hours and closure with be from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m., for one day only.

Sixth Avenue and Toole Avenue Intersection Closure

On Monday, January 26, 2015, crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co., under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation, will remove the sewer bypass pumps and bypass lines from the Sixth Avenue and Toole Avenue intersection. This work will require the closure of the Sixth Avenue and Toole Avenue intersection from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., for one night only. 

City of Tucson Launches Smart-Phone Application for Parking

The City of Tucson Department of Transportation’s Park Tucson Division today launched GoTucson, a service that will allow motorists to pay for on-street parking through a mobile application.  Developed in partnership with Charlotte, North Carolina-based Passport, GoTucson will provide a convenient, easy-to-use, and intuitive means of paying for metered parking throughout Downtown and in the districts along the Sun Link Streetcar corridor.
 

Campbell Avenue - Broadway to Third Street Resurfacing Project: Updated Schedule

Crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co., under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), are scheduled to complete the milling (removing asphalt) and repaving work on Campbell Avenue from Broadway to Third Street during the week of Monday, January 19, 2015.

Crews will mill the roadway on Monday, January 19, 2015 and repave Campbell Avenue on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 and Wednesday January 21, 2015. To minimize impacts to the adjacent residents, work hours will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

Sixth Avenue and Toole Avenue Intersection Closure

Crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co., under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation, will be installing underground conduit for the installation of new and permanent traffic signals at Sixth Avenue and Toole Avenue.

This work will require the closure of the Sixth Avenue and Toole Avenue intersection from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., including the Sixth Avenue Underpass, on the following nights:

Sixth Avenue - Seventh Street to Broadway Improvement Project

On Monday, January 5, 2015, Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co., under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will begin work to improve Sixth Avenue between Seventh Street and Broadway. The project will begin with crews installing sewer bypass pumps at the Toole Avenue and Sixth Avenue intersection. This work will result in the intersection being closed nightly to vehicular traffic beginning on Monday, January 5, 2015 through Wednesday, January 7, 2015 from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m.

Campbell Avenue - Broadway to Third Street Resurfacing Project

On Sunday, January 4, 2015, crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co., under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will begin work to improve the pavement conditions on Campbell Avenue from Broadway north to Third Street.
Crews will be milling (removing asphalt) and repaving Campbell Avenue. The work is scheduled to be complete by Friday, January 9, 2015. To minimize impacts to the adjacent residents, work hours will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Park Tucson Installing New Smart Meters

The City of Tucson Department of Transportation’s  Park Tucson Division is modernizing its on-street parking program with the installation of new, solar-powered “smart” meters that accept credit, debit or smart (stored value) cards. The new smart meters, which also accept coins, will be wirelessly connected to a new smart-phone app-branded specifically for Tucson.

Fourth Avenue Street Fair Sun Link StreetCar Temporary Route Adjustments

Fourth Avenue will be the host of the annual Fourth Avenue Winter Street Fair this weekend.  The Fourth Avenue Winter Street Fair begins on Friday, December 12, 2014 and is open daily through Sunday December 14, 2014 from 10 a.m., until 6 p.m.  Attendance for the Street Fair is estimated to be approximately 300,000 people, so please adjust travel plans accordingly.

Wrightstown Road Travel Lane Closure - Postponed Due To Weather

The bank protection project on East Wrightstown Road scheduled for Friday, December 5, 2014, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., has been postponed due to inclement weather. Crews from the City of Tucson Department of Transportation Streets and Traffic Maintenance Division will conduct the bank protection work when the saturated wash bank has dried out. The work will take place on the south side of East Wrightstown Road between Sarnoff Drive and Camino Seco.

Tucson, AZ (November 25, 2014) - In support of safe, visible and lawful bicycle riding, the City of Tucson Bicycle and Pedestrian Program and Pima Association of Governments will partner with Living Streets Alliance to put on “Light the Night,” a bike light distribution and bicycle safety education campaign. Each month at different locations across the region, teams of volunteers distribute free front and rear light sets to people on bikes spotted riding without them.
