Sun Link Launch a Huge Success

More than 60,000 riders took part in the three-day, free-ride weekend to commemorate the kickoff of the Tucson Sun Link Streetcar system on July 25, 2014. The support provided by the community volunteers, several departments within the City of Tucson and the numerous groups who provided materials or labor, led to a smooth opening day.  Volunteers continue to assist returning U of A students with education and help on the streetcar.

The Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) keeps Tucson moving smoothly and safely. TDOT's nearly 250 employees oversee the maintenance and reconstruction of nearly 1,900 miles of streets, and are responsible for hundreds of drainage structures, public art pieces, street lights and signs, and traffic signs and signals in Tucson. TDOT also operates the city's transit services, SunTran and Sun Van.

TDOT only handles transportation issues within the city limits of Tucson. Please contact Pima County Department of Transportation for streets outside the City or the Arizona Department of Transportation for matters pertaining to I-10 and the frontage roads.
